Fluke Calibration 9143-A-256 Field Metrology Well

A portable field metrology well designed for industrial temperature sensor calibration applications. This instrument extends high performance to field environments by maximizing portability and speed without compromising metrology performance.

Key capabilities include calibrating 4-20 mA transmitters, thermostatic switches, thermocouples, and resistance temperature detectors. The optional process version provides built-in two-channel thermometer readout measuring PRTs, RTDs, thermocouples, and 4-20 mA transmitters with integrated 24V loop supply.

Built-in features address large workloads and common applications. Reference PRTs contain individual calibration constants in memory chips allowing interchangeable sensor use. The second channel supports 2, 3, or 4-wire RTDs, thermocouples, or 4-20 mA transmitters for comparison calibration using a single instrument.

The process option simplifies transmitter loop calibrations by placing the transmitter sensor in the well with the reference PRT while connecting transmitter electronics to the front panel. This enables measurement of as-found and as-left data in one self-contained tool.

Automated thermostatic switch test procedures offer auto or manual setup. Auto setup requires only nominal switch temperature entry, running a 3-cycle calibration procedure and displaying dead band results. Manual setup allows customized ramp rates and additional cycles.

Metrology performance meets EA criteria for accuracy, stability, axial uniformity, radial uniformity, loading, and hysteresis. Display accuracy is ±0.2°C over full range. Stability ranges from ±0.02°C at 33°C to ±0.03°C at 350°C. Radial uniformity achieves ±0.01°C with dual-zone control providing ±0.05°C axial uniformity at 40mm depth.

The unit features onboard non-volatile memory documenting up to 20 tests with alphanumeric IDs, recording block temperature, reference temperature, UUT values, error, date, and time. All measurements display via front panel LCD.

Environmental compensation through gradient-temperature control ensures stable performance in unstable field conditions. All specifications are guaranteed across 13°C to 33°C environmental range. The instrument weighs less than 8.2 kg with small footprint for easy field transport.

Temperature range spans 33°C to 350°C. Heating reaches temperature in 5 minutes; cooling requires 32 minutes to 33°C or 14 minutes to reach 100°C. Display resolution is 0.01°C with LCD showing selectable °C or °F. RS-232 computer interface enables automation using the optional 1586A Super-DAQ system.

Each unit includes NVLAP-accredited calibration certificate backed by robust uncertainty analysis considering temperature gradients, loading effects, and hysteresis with 4:1 test uncertainty ratio.
