Fluke Calibration 9143-A-P-256 Field Metrology Well

A precision temperature calibration tool designed for field applications covering 33°C to 350°C with process electronics. This portable instrument weighs less than 8.2 kg and features metrology performance meeting international standards for accuracy, stability, uniformity, and loading effects.

The unit includes a built-in two-channel readout system that measures platinum resistance thermometers (PRT), resistance temperature detectors (RTD), thermocouples, and 4-20 mA current signals. The reference channel accepts an ITS-90 reference PRT with individual calibration constants stored in an internal memory chip, allowing for interchangeable sensor use. The second channel is user-selectable for 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire RTD configurations, thermocouples, or 4-20 mA transmitters with 24V loop power supply included.

The process version includes onboard non-volatile memory documenting up to 20 tests. Each test receives a unique alphanumeric identifier recording block temperature, reference temperature, UUT values, error, date, and time viewable through the front panel display. Preprogrammed calibration routines for thermostatic switch testing are available in both automatic and manual modes.

Display accuracy reaches ±0.2°C across the full temperature range. Stability specifications include ±0.02°C at 33°C and ±0.03°C at 350°C. Axial uniformity at 40mm depth measures ±0.04°C at 33°C, ±0.1°C at 200°C, and ±0.2°C at 350°C. Radial uniformity maintains ±0.01°C at 33°C, ±0.015°C at 200°C, and ±0.02°C at 350°C. Loading effects with reference probe and three additional probes remain within ±0.015°C across the full range. All specifications include IEC-17025 NVLAP-accredited calibration certificates with 4:1 test uncertainty ratios.

Gradient-temperature compensation technology ensures stable performance in unstable field environments ranging from 13°C to 33°C ambient conditions. The unit reaches 350°C from 33°C in approximately 5 minutes. Cooling requires approximately 32 minutes from 350°C to 33°C or 14 minutes to reach 100°C.

The instrument performs transmitter loop calibrations by placing temperature sensors in the well alongside reference PRTs while connecting transmitter electronics to front panel connections. This simultaneous measurement capability enables assessment of both as-found and as-left conditions in a single calibration tool. The built-in two-channel thermometry eliminates the need to carry multiple field instruments, providing comprehensive loop calibration functionality addressing the typical 75 percent sensing element error present in complete transmitter systems.

The large LCD display supports both Celsius and Fahrenheit readout with user selection. Function keys and menu navigation buttons provide intuitive control. A stability indicator visually and audibly confirms when the well reaches temperature stability to selectable criteria. The 6-pin DIN connector accommodates reference probes with integrated Infocon technology. RS-232 computer interface enables remote operation and data logging. The 1586A Super-DAQ automation system provides additional calibration procedure control capabilities.
